It's a pleasure to see even adults' faces light up when you talk about where you work. That was the case with my half-year stint at Sesame Workshop, where I worked across many of their digital media projects. As the sole interaction designer, my role was to ensure that good usability, educational goals, and business requirements were in harmony. Two aspects of this job pushed me to grow as a designer: the amount of educational and developmental research demanded of each project, and the challenges of a pre-literate audience with limited exposure to technology. Some of the projects I worked on included:

  • Strategy and scenario for Sesame's first venture into the preschool classroom
  • Design and usability testing for web- and iPhone-based games
  • User interface design for an online ebook reader
  • Launching Sesame's very first blog
  • An online reference tool for teaching literacy to 6-to-9-year-olds
